Dr. Kenneth Dawson-Howe.

I am a lecturer in the School of Computer Science and Statistics in Trinity College Dublin, and part of the Graphics, Vision and Visualisation (GV2) Research Group.

News

  • 16th September 2011. In the coming year I will be teaching a combined Computer Vision to the final year Computer Science class and to the UBICOM and IET MSc classes, along with some of the first year Programming course. I have a bunch of proposals on the undergraduate projects page, but believe that I have already filled my quota of students...
  • 19th November 2009. The proceedings of IMVIP 2009 which was hosted here in Trinity are now available online on the IEEE Explore site.

Project Supervision

I supervise projects which have a computer vision component. To give you a feel for this type of project have a look at some previous projects that I have supervised. For further information (about project organisation, platform, weighting for evaluation, etc.) see this page. If you want to talk about a project or suggest one in the area of computer vision my contact details are here.

Research & Publications

My current personal area of research is in surveillance. Specifically I am interested in developing tracking mechanisms which successfully track every pixel associated with moving objects. When starting this work I found that the ground truth available was simply inadequate so fixing that problem is my current focus.

My research interests (historically at least) span much of the field of computer vision. I am currently supervising work in segmentation and in mean-shift tracking.

My research publications are listed below in reverse chronological order (i.e. the ones at the top of the list are most recent). Click on a research topic for a list of publications in that area.

Qualifications

    M.A., Ph.D., Dip.Mgt.
