TCD Student Through to Final of Citadel 'Datathon'-0001 November 30

Diego Menin, a student on the new MSc in Computer Science is part of a team that succeeded in the Citadel Datathon competition, held in Dublin recently, and is on his way to the finals in New York.

Diego Menin, a student on the new MSc in Computer Science is part of a team that succeeded in the Citadel Datathon [https://www.citadel.com/careers/the-data-open/] competition and is on his way to the finals in New York.  The ‘Datathon’ is an annual competition run by Citadel & Citadel Securities in a range of cities across the world including Dublin.  Teams of students are given access to a large data set and asked to use their skills to mine the data and produce useful insights. Diego’s team left the Dublin event with a cheque for $€??5,000 and will shortly travel to New York with a chance to win the overall prize of $100,000.

 

Diego is a student in the data science strand in the new MSc in Computer Science at Trinity College.  He had post-graduate experience in the financial sector before enrolling at TCD where he studies such topics as Data Analytics, Machine Learning, Data Visualisation and Optimisation Algorithms.  Diego is also undertaking a major dissertation on Blockchain technologies working on the Ethereum blockchain
