1. Software Engineer

The Internship:

Groupon, Ireland is looking for a SEO Web Application Intern to support our Dublin team.

What does the SEO engineering team do?


Well, in short the SEO engineering team is building Groupon’s next generation SEO and landing page optimisation stack.
With a multi ­datacentre, micro ­services architecture and by employing a range of technologies from Node.js, Backbone.js to Java, we provide self ­service page creation, optimisation and A/B experimentation.
We also play a lot of foosball and table tennis, crack some jokes occasionally.

What kind of person are you and what experience do you need?


You are aiming for a 2.1 in BS, MS or Ph.D in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
Work as part of highly talented engineering team in enhancing
Good coding chops with great communication and collaboration skills. You share a passion for experimentation and usability and good UI design. You’ve got a passion for usability and good UI design.

2. Software Development Engineer Intern – Affiliates

At Groupon, we are transforming the way merchants and consumers connect with each other around the globe. We are on a mission to be the world’s commerce operating system – increasing consumers’ buying power, while driving more business to merchants through price and discovery. We work in small, independent and collaborative teams to create massively scalable and reliable systems.

We are looking for a Software Development Intern to join our rapidly-growing development hub in Dublin, and work as part of the an agile-based Affiliate Engineering team, supporting our team in building highly-scalable infrastructure to enable huge growth within the global media marketing.

The systems you will support will manage hundreds of millions of advertising dollars. They will be architected to scale, while being accessible to both business managers and technical leaders. They will monitor, analize, and act on tens of millions of events in real-time every day.

What does the Affiliate Marketing engineering team do? 

Well, in short the Affiliate engineering team is building Groupons partner advertising platform.  We build tools, UIs and APIs to empower our partners to advertise and drive interest in all things Groupon.  With a Multi datacentre, Micro services architecture and by employing a range of technologies from Java 8 and Storm to Python and Hadoop we advertise, track usage, attribution and  conversion. 

We also play a lot of foosball, way too much table tennis and crack some jokes occasionally.


Some of the great things you will be doing

  • Work as part of highly talented engineering team in enhancing Groupon Media Marketing systems
  • You will work on Front End UI, Backend APIs, Reporting systems and do some data analysis.
  • Involvement in different projects & initatives within the team.


What we would like you to ideally have

  • Strong academic background, aiming toward a 2.1 or above BS in Computer Science or equivalent
  • Good coding chops with great communication and collaboration skills.
  • Driven, highly-curious self-starter with a passion for problem solving
  • Experience developing software, preferably in languages such as Java, Scala, JavaScript or Python.
Comfortable working with Unix-based operating systems
