Project Support.

This page provides resouces for students taking final year projects with me...

Writing Guidelines.

The first task I ask all students to address is researching their problem area and writing up a background chapter for their reports.  In the past there have been a couple of resources made available to students.  A guideline was issued to students by the course directors in 2001.

Click this link for the online resouces. Please note that you will need to be working within the tcd.ie domain in order to use some of these (as we are able to access them due to subscriptions which Trinity holds).

Software.

I now generally advise my project students to develop their project using the OpenCV freeware package from Intel. The sources are available freely on Source Forge.

Up to 2004/2005 I was getting students to use TIPS (Trinity Image Processing System) which is used by me for teaching computer vision. This can still be used but operations will be much slower within TIPS and in fact the libraries it are based on (also from Intel) are much older.
