Research

I am a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in the Centre for Next Generation Localisation (CNGL). The Project is funded by Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) in the category "Centre for Science Engineering and Technology (CSET)". CNGL conducts research in machine translation, speech processing, and digital content management. Four Universities are involved in the Project: Trinity College Dubling, Dublin City University, University College Dublin and University of Limerick. Please click here for more detail on the Academic Partners. There are also a number of Industrial Partners in the Project: Alchemy Software Development, Dai Nippon Printing Co., IBM, Idiom, Microsoft, Speech Storm, Symantec, Traslán and VistaTEC.

I also work on the 1641 Depositions Project. The project aims to transcribe, digitise and analyse the 1641 Depositions, which comprise 3,400 depositions, examinations and associated materials, located in the Library of Trinity College Dublin, in which Protestant men and women of all classes told of their experiences following the outbreak of the rebellion by the Catholic Irish in October, 1641.
